Rajashree Choudhury and Emmy Cleaves in Copenhagen

Hi Dragonfly friends!

This time our Dragonfly Team went to an event in Denmark – Copenhagen.  From 4^th-6^th October there was a seminar, lecture and few classes with Rajashree Choudhury and Emmy Cleaves accompanied by world champions - ChauKei Stefanie Ngai and Jared McCann. This event was hosted by Trine Zafina Søndergaard from Bikram Yoga Copenhagen and her lovely team.

The trip started in our hometown – Budweis, Czech Republic. We left the town at 6pm and drove overnight through Germany. The whole drive took about 12 hours. The girl part of Dragonfly team was sleeping heads hanging out off the seats :-) The man with the van got some sleep at the rest area.

We crossed the line early in the morning. First we wanted to take a ferry but the bridge seemed to be more exciting and we didn’t have to wait! The 18 km long fixed link across Storebælt comprises two bridges and a tunnel. The view was exciting! Breathtaking construction across the wild sea was a nice awakening.

We reached Copenhagen around noon and went straight to the guesthouse where we were accommodated. Copenhagen is such a beautiful city! Nice atmosphere, buildings, culture – everybody riding the bike... So clean, green and warm. The guesthouse was a typical Danish one close to the city center situated in a beautiful garden.

After some rest we jumped to the car and went to explore the city centre and Nyhavn. Before 4pm we finally made it to the studio. BIkram Yoga Copenhagen impressed us with its pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Studio team was very helpful and provided us with all the services before the class. We enjoyed the class, stretched the body and the rest of the afternoon spent at the studio. We definitely recommend to visit this Bikram Yoga studio!

When we finished at the studio we dropped Petra off at the LÊLÊ restaurant for studio owners dinner. The cuisine was Vietnamese and the meals were just amazing! It was nice to meet and see studio owners from all over the Europe and Rajashree, Emmy, ChauKei and Jared at the same time.

Night and sleep were finally too short! On Saturday morning we moved our van with the booth to Kulturhuset Indre By in the city centre of Copenhagen. The event started at 9am. Around one hundred people showed up. Rajashree launched the lecture about her life and relationship to yoga and Bikram and how it all started. The lecture was very illuminating but sometimes funny as well. We loved the joke how Bikram met Rajashree at some yoga competition and told her he could teach her better postures :-)

Rajashree asked Jared to come up to the podium and they started posture clinic with standing series. It is always helpful for everybody – students and teachers to listen to Rajashree herself. Even if we know “how to do it” we always hear something new. Finally Emmy came and was asked to come up on podium too. Her comments concerning the postures are the most inspiring and informative. We all were listening carefully some of us making notes.

After lunch break Emmy started her lecture about healthy eating and lifestyle. She gave us lot of tips about nutrition and health itself. In the meantime Jared and ChauKei were warming up for their demonstrations at the back of the room. When Emmy finished the lecture she asked Rajashree to help her with posture clinic – this time floor series with ChauKei. Emmy was nice this time :-)

The whole event ended up with demo of the two world champions which was really an amazing spectacle! Jared followed by ChauKei – both of them with music. Very inspiring!

We must say that this event was really well organized, we enjoyed the whole day, got some tips, met new people and we especially thank to ChauKei who spent a lot of time with us!

There was another teachers’ dinner on Saturday but Dragonfly part had to say bye and set on a journey back home. We visited one last sight - Little Mermaid and then went exactly the opposite way we came to Denmark and again – the girl-part was sleeping and the man with the van was holding the steering wheel tight :-) and was going through the night across Germany. We spent more hours at the rest area this time.

We made altogether 2634 kilometres and got back home in the afternoon how we planned. Everything ended up above expectations very well! We love Copenhagen and travelling! ;-)

European Pole Sports Chmpionship 2013

Hi guys!

Last weekend Dragonfly Team was in Prague as a European Pole Sport Championship 2013 sponsor. Finally home of Dragonfly – capital city of Czech Republic, Prague! So this time the trip wasn’t so long ;-)

The Championship took place in Sport Area TJ Spoje, Prague 3. When we finally got there the new hall was almost ready for the competitors. We set up our stand with Dragonfly clothes and were happy to see all the people around.

The competition itself started at 11am with a nice Opening Ceremony and Block 1 (Baby, Children, Juniors). It is unbelievable what kids can do on the pole! J All adult competitors must have been jealous! J In the afternoon other categories (Men, Doubles Mixed, Doubles Women, Groups Women) showed us their best. The afternoon was quite long but the spectators were enjoying the atmosphere of the event watching the best pole dancers of Europe! Finally around 5.30pm Solo women category (our most favorite part) started and made the evening up till 10pm.

We saw a lot of famous and familiar faces and we must say everybody is getting better and better! The whole day event was a wonderful spectacle and we were very happy we could be part of it again!

WPSC 2013 LONDON

Hi Dragonfly - poledance fans! :-) This time Dragonfly Yogawear Team went to London as a sponsor of World Pole Sports Championships 2013. Part of our team was also Lucie Loo Simkova who won the 1st place in Czech Pole Sports Championship. We went by our Dragonfly Van which took a loooong time but whole crew enjoyed the trip so much! :-) We come up with some pics and info for you.

We started the jurney on Thursday 18th July and went overnight across Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and France. We took a ferry from Calais to Dover in the morning on Friday and finally got to London around noon.

WPSC 2013 took place in York Hall in Bethnal Green, London. On Friday there were big preparations for the whole weekend.

  

Saturday and Sunday (20th and 21st July) were very busy days. Semifinals were held on Saturday - it was very hard for judges to decide who is doing finals because everybody made their best and the whole day was a perfect show and performance. Finally 8 finalists participated the finals in cathegories: Youth Category, Doubles and Men, 10 finalists in Masters and 12 finalist in Women cathegory.

CZECH POLE DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hi Dragonfly lovers! :-)

We were very happy to see you all at second Czech Pole Dance Championships in Prague on 21-22nd June! We hope you all enjoyed the whole weekend! For those who missed out this beautiful event we come up with some information.

Both days in Palace Theatre were filled up with perfect bodies, incredible spectacle and pole dance art. We have to say that compared to the last year the competitors were even better prepared and trained. You can see that pole dance as a sport is growing very fast and becomes very popular at the professional level.

Judges came from all over the Europe - Ukraine, Russia, Sweden, Great Britain and Belarus. Our Dragonfly Team was pleased to see again such a person as Alex Zakirov, Petra Larsson or Julia Kolesova and others. They had difficult times when they had to decide the results because all the competing girls made so good! :-)

But finally here are the best of all:

Moreover we were really excited that the absolute winner - Lucie Šimková is from České Budějovice - home of Dragonfly Yogawear! :-) Big congrats to Lucie and all other competitors!

DRAGONFLY BIKRAM YOGA TRIP TO CHINA

Hi Dragonfly addicts!

We come up with another country and studio review – this time from China!

Our Dragonfly Team has been to a China trip for a couple of days. We have visited both Chinese Bikram Yoga studios (Bikram Yoga Shanghai and Bikram Yoga Beijing). Also we made a few pictures for you guys on typical Chinese hot spots – get ready for some adventure! ;-)

Bikram Yoga Shanghai

Shanghai is a beautiful new and clean city of various types of architecture styles. The Bund, buildings from the early 20^th of the last century on one riverbank of the Huangpu River and The Pudong New Area offering glimpse to the future on the other riverside.

The French Concession area famous for its European-like buildings and atmosphere is a home of Bikram Yoga Shanghai. The studio is located just on the main street of Jing An district on Jiang Ning Road but a bit “behind the corner” which offers nice and calm environment perfect for Bikram Yoga.

The studio owner Yun Ji is a very friendly young woman. She opened the studio about 2 years ago and is now doing very good. We have met there her teacher Jeremy Stephens. The studio atmosphere, chill out area and facilities felt very comfy. The class was in English with a bit of Chinese – which we appreciated! J We recommend this studio to anybody passing through or visiting Shanghai!

Beijing is an old city with traditional Chinese buildings and architecture looking all the way back to the past - the city’s history dates back three millennia. You can find there typical Chinese temples but also super-modern buildings. Beijing has been the political center of the country for much of the past seven centuries. Definitely one of the must-see places in China for better understanding of the whole country.

Xinag Li is a studio owner of Bikram Yoga Beijing. We didn’t get chance to meet her personally but she was very helpful by e-mail so when we finally made it to the studio her staff had already known about us coming. Even though in China they don’t speak English in general, we understood each other very well – maybe that’s the Bikram language! J The studio was very beautiful and the class was in Chinese! The teacher was really into yoga and even if we didn’t understand any word we understood the whole thing perfectly! J Also we would recommend this studio located in Enji green garden of Beijing.

Finally!!!

I have the DRAGONFLY stuff!!!

Sorry if it´s too long, but i should write you about this!.... 

COLOR: INCREDIBLE, strong and amazingly unique!! As Rihanna would say: Shine bright like a Diamond!

FABRIC: ....OMG! - It´s NOT like my second skind....IT´S EVEN BETTER!!!!! 

STYLE AND DESIGN: THE WOW FACTOR! - i´m one of those girls who are demanding with each small detail when I choose my clothes and also, I usually when tend to think that it is almost impossible to succeed in Sizes choice. But This time..DRAGONFLY SHORT and TOP was simply better than I expected!!! And I´m sure that is not because i was lucky, but...it was because I think the design has been made thinking as a girl!:) Perfect fit and butt cover!  Good bye muffin tops! 

Pole dance clothes usually looks better in my mind than in reality, but not anymore!!! ...From now on, i love surprises when it comes from DRAGONFLY TAGS!...

THE ONLY BAD THING: can be addictive! That now, I WANT to have every MODEL IN every COLOR!!

Dragonfly at Bikram‘s seminar in Paris 23rd March 2013

Hi Dragonfly friends!

As we promised you we are here with report from Bikram’s seminar in Paris. This was first Dragonfly trip with our new Dragonfly Van so our whole team enjoyed the trip very much J We made 2432 km. The trip started on Thursday 21st 2013 in Czech Republic in the city of Budweis where we also have the studio www.bikramyogacb.cz (in this studio our brand started and we develop and test all the designs of our line there). After two hours of ride in the city of Pilsen we picked up our friend and Bikram Yoga Teacher from Bikram Yoga Prague Marketa Vacovska. We went overnight across Germany - the journey took about 12 hours.

On Friday 22nd we arrived to France!

The whole Friday we spent sightseeing and photoshooting in beautiful Paris. We saw Eiffel tower,  Trocadero, Louvre, Avenue des Champs-Élysée, Moulin Rouge…  Friday evening part of our Dragonfly team consisting of Bikram Yoga Teachers spent some time at a dinner with Bikram Choudhury! Marine Ochin (organizer of this event and studio owner of Bikram Yoga Paris) and her friends chose very pleasant Thai restaurant called “Mme Shawn”. It was great to see many friends, teachers and studio owners from all over the Europe there. We had some really delicious meals and a lot fun and talking! ;-)

Saturday 23rd was a quite busy day but we all enjoyed it so much! In the morning there was 3 hours lecture full of information with Bikram then book signing and in the afternoon a class with Bikram. In the evening part of us got recertified. And of course the whole day we were there with our Dragonfly stand of clothing. As we saw your smiling happy faces when trying on and testing Dragonfly clothes we were so excited! J

EVEN BIKRAM HIMSELF SIGNED OUR DRAGONFLY VAN !!!!!! J

Straight after the event we packed all the Dragonfly stuff and set on the way back home.

We have to say again - we enjoyed the whole event so much and we are really glad Bikram Yoga Paris invited us to this event! Thank you all for your support!
